HUDSON – Columbia County Undersheriff John Davi, who worked in the sheriff’s office for 35 years, has retired. His last day on the job was Friday, April 9.

Davi was originally hired as a part-time deputy sheriff jailer in 1986 by then-Sheriff Paul Proper. He moved to full-time corrections officer later that same year, was promoted to corrections sergeant in June 1990, and to corrections lieutenant in 1991 by then-Sheriff James Bertram.

In 2003, Davi was promoted again, this time to corrections captain serving as the chief officer in the correctional facility.

In January 2014, he was selected by Sheriff David Bartlett to join his command staff as undersheriff.
