Orange County offering compost bins and rainwater barrels at reduced prices

GOSHEN – In honor of Earth Day, Orange County will be offering residents and businesses compost bins and rain barrels at discounted rates.

The county’s Department of Public Works, Division of Environmental Facilities & Services is collaborating with organizations based in Newburgh, Tuxedo, and the Highlands on the initiative to raise the awareness of the benefits of using compost to improve or maintain high quality soil, to grow healthy plants, reduce the use of fertilizer and pesticides, improve water quality, and protect the environment.

Pre-orders of bins, barrels, and other compost related items can be made at https://orangecompostersale.ecwid.com/.  The deadline for pre-orders is Friday, June 10.  Please select one of the three pick up locations when placing an order.  Pick up of bins, barrels, and other pre-ordered items will take place on Saturday, June 12th at the following locations:

  • From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Tuxedo Train Station, located at 240 Route 17.
  • From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Church of the Holy Innocents, located at 401 Main Street in the Village of Highland Falls.
  • From noon to 4 p.m. at the Newburgh Farmers Market, located at 95-107 Broadway in the City of Newburgh.

Pre-orders must be conducted online at the website listed above. Only a limited number of items will be available for sale on the day of the event.  All orders must be picked up on June 12.
