Lake Katrine man charged with raping underage girl

LAKE KATRINE – A 37-year-old Lake Katrine man has been arrested by State Police on a felony charge or rape as well as misdemeanors of endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful dealing with a child.

James Jones, Jr. was arrested on Tuesday, April 6, and following arraignment, was issued an appearance ticket returnable to local court.

Police said investigation revealed that on April 2, Jones took the girl to a local hotel, gave her alcohol and then raped her several times.

The following morning, he drove her to Paramus, New Jersey where he left her. She was able to contact a relative who picked her up.

The victim then confided in a friend as to what had happened and he convinced her to contact the State Police.

On April 6, the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in the Town of Wallkill located Jones in Port Ewen where he was arrested.
