POUGHKEEPSIE – The Junior League of Poughkeepsie is seeking to aid non-profit organizations during Women’s History Month, according to President-elect Jacqueline Altwerger.  The organization is offering two grants to help meet its mission of helping the community.

“The Junior League of Poughkeepsie is honored to continue our tradition of awarding grants to not-for-profit, tax-exempt corporations, especially when COVID-19 has affected so much of our community,” said the President-elect.

The Junior League is now accepting applications from not-for-profit, tax-exempt corporations, for a $500 grant, to address certain and specific needs in the community. Each organization may be awarded up to one grant. Grant applications are not limited to Dutchess County and applications will be considered from organizations from the greater Hudson Valley region.

Altwerger is encouraging organizations with women in leadership to apply. “While we invite all organizations in the Hudson Valley region to apply, we hope female-based organizations will also submit applications, especially during Women’s History Month. Last year’s grant winner, Unshattered, is an organization that helps women by offering employment, personal development, and gives them the opportunity to find their purpose and live an addiction-free life.”

Applications can be downloaded online at jlpoughkeepsie.org/jlp-community-grant-2021 and are due back by Friday, April 9, 2021, in a scanned PDF and sent via email to JLPoughkeepsie@gmail.com (subject line “JLP Grant Application 2021”).

Final awards and notifications are anticipated to be made by April 22, 2021. Winning recipient(s) will be asked to attend the May 3, 2021, General Membership meeting to talk about their project and be honored as a grant recipient.
