HUDSON – An early morning fire at 34 Fairview Avenue in the City of Hudson went to a second alarm and required several firefighters to keep the blaze from spreading to neighboring buildings.  The call came into 911 at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Wednesday.  Six occupants were displaced as a result of the fire.

Arriving firefighters encountered flames showing in the large three-story multi-family structure and went to work extinguishing the fire and searching for occupants.

Hudson firefighters were quickly joined at the scene by Greenport and several other departments including the Catskill department, which relieved Hudson firefighters operating on the third floor.

“A quick response by the firefighters kept the fire from spreading across the attic,” said Hudson Fire Chief Anthony DeMarco Jr.  “The first due engine and ladder truck went to work simultaneously and made a hell of a stop!”
