NEWBURGH – A spray-painted message on the skateboard park in the City of Newburgh read, “Stop killing black people” and the note carried the Black Lives Matter symbol.

Newburgh-Highland Falls NAACP Chapter President Ray Harvey condemned the graffiti saying defacing property is not the way to portray any message.

“If someone wants to have a dialogue with the black community or with the black leaders, then that is what you do, not spray-paint any message but reach out to the community and let’s have a dialogue about whatever it is they want to have a dialogue about,” he said.

Harvey said defacing public property is not the way to get attention.
