Firefighters search through the rubble of a massive overnight fire that destroyed an adult home. Cadaver dogs are being brought in to search for victims.

SPRING VALLEY – An overnight fire at the Evergreen Home for Adults in Lafayette Street in Spring Valley turned the facility in a raging inferno of bright red flames.

Cadaver dogs have been brought in to search for victims from the three-alarm blaze, as a mass casualty event has been declared for several civilians and firefighters. One Spring Valley firefighter is unaccounted for.(Watch video of search efforts.)

Medical response units from FDNY and Yonkers Fire Department have been called in to assist.

Firefighters and EMS personnel from across Rockland County were on the scene as flames consumed the structure. At one point, a portion of the building collapsed as firefighters ran for cover to avoid being struck by the debris.
