POUGHKEEPSIE – Air Protection Packaging Corp., based in Linden, New Jersey, wants to move its headquarters and manufacturing facilities to the former Alfa Laval building in the Town of Poughkeepsie.

The company, which manufactures bubble wrap and other plastic products, is seeking financial incentives to purchase and upgrade the 350,000-square-foot building at a cost of $12 million.

The project will mean new jobs for the region, said Dutchess County Industrial Development Agency Executive Director Sarah Lee.

“They would be bringing or creating 105 new jobs up to Dutchess County. They currently have about 65 employees in their New Jersey site. They do expect some of their employees to come with the move, but at this time it is not determined how many of those 65 will come with the move,” she said.

Air Protection Packaging is seeking materials sales tax and mortgage filing fee exemptions as well as a 15-year payment-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement from the IDA.

“For the last 30 years, this building has been occupied by a hodgepodge of tenants. It’s exciting to know that it will once again be a headquarters and manufacturing facility – bringing more than 100 new jobs to Dutchess County,” said Ron Hicks, deputy county executive for economic development.
