MONTICELLO – Sullivan County has reached a new contract agreement with the Sullivan County Visitors Association, which will see the long-time tourism promotion agency sharing the bed tax with other organizations.

Legislature Chairman Rob Doherty said the SCVA will receive a base of $1.1 million-plus a percentage increase as revenue from hotel and motel room tax income increases.

Another portion of the revenue will be applied to fund specific events, said Doherty.

“We are looking to fund other projects, tourism infrastructure with that money, places like the Scenic Byway, places like that,” he said.

Companies to undertake those events will be chosen through a request for proposals process.
