YONKERS – A man, who had reportedly made threats to an employee of an insurance company, barricaded himself inside his home at 11 Livingston Avenue in Yonkers, firing on city police officers, was found dead hours after the incident began Saturday.

Peter Kastsaridis, 50, who had an active warrant for his arrest stemming from a March 1 incident in which he allegedly menaced a neighbor with a handgun, had shot himself in the head. An assault-style rifle was found next to his body.

Kastsaridis had refused to come out of his house, threatened to kill police, and shot at the officers, who returned fire.

The investigation into the incident was turned over to the Westchester County Department of Public Safety for openness and transparency.
