CT man arrested in Westchester with two kilos of coke, illegal handgun

SCARSDALE – A traffic stop on the Hutchinson River Parkway in Scarsdale on Monday morning resulted in the arrest of a Waterbury, Connecticut man for possession of two kilograms of cocaine, a large amount of cash and an illegally possessed 9mm handgun.

Rafael Batista, 40, was pulled over just before 10 a.m. by State Police from the Hawthorne barracks while driving a 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe.

He was charged with two felony counts and one misdemeanor count of drug possession, two felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon and a misdemeanor for unlawfully possessing a large capacity ammunition feeding device.

Batista was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $30,000 cash bail or $50,000 secure bond.
