NEW CITY – The Rockland County grand jury has indicted a county resident on charges of kidnapping, assault and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation.

On February 28, Carson Goodman, 22, allegedly restrained and repeatedly assaulted a 37-year-old woman at a number of locations in the Town of Orangetown.

The case was investigated by Orangetown Police with assistance from the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office and the Special Victims Unit of the County District Attorney’s Office.

Kidnapping carries from five to 25 years in prison.

“The sheer terror experienced by the victim must have been horrific,” said DA Thomas Walsh. “We cannot allow the actions of the defendant to be accepted in our society. My office will vigorously prosecute this case to ensure that our victim’s rights are upheld, and the defendant is judged on the crimes committed.”
