MONTICELLO – The State Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration are preparing a Route 17 Transportation Corridor Planning and Linkages Study.

The review will evaluate the environmental impacts and engineering feasibility of adding a third traffic lane in each direction and improving key interchanges in the two counties as recommended in previous planning studies.

The analysis seeks to help accommodate transportation demands along the corridor between exit 103 at Rapp Road in Sullivan County and exit 131 at the Thruway in Harriman in Orange County brought about by growth in the region and to help accommodate future growth.

The two agencies will conduct a virtual public workshop at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 18. Persons may register at https://rt17pel.eventbrite.com
