GOSHEN – Orange County has administered nearly 9,500 coronavirus vaccinations to residents in under a week.

In Goshen along on Saturday and Sunday, the county collaborated with Horizon Family Medical Group to administer 4,400 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

On Friday, working with Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, the county administered 2,341 first doses of the Pfizer vaccine at the SUNY Orange Newburgh campus.

A day earlier, the county administered more than 1,700 first doses of the Moderna vaccine in Goshen while on March 2, 900 residents received their second dose of the vaccine in Goshen.

The county prioritized residents over age 65 but also vaccinated others who are eligible including teachers, first responders, healthcare professionals, and those with pre-existing health conditions.

“I have advocated fiercely for the state to send Orange County an adequate number of vaccines and I am pleased that we are finally receiving more doses,” said County Executive Steven Neuhaus. “We will continue to ask the state for more vaccines and will distribute it safely, equitably, and as efficiently as possible.”
