PORT JERVIS – They lined the streets of downtown Port Jervis on Sunday, some standing, some sitting and others remaining in their cars as the third annual St. Patrick’s Day parade marched by.

Mayor Kelly Decker noted it was a beautiful day for a parade given COVID-19’s lingering effects after one year.

“There are a lot of people who are saying during a pandemic why are you having a parade. Look at the blue skies, beautiful weather outside. It’s a perfect day, not only for a parade, but a perfect day to be socially distanced. We wear our masks. We are protecting ourselves, but we are also starting to enjoy ourselves. We need that; we need this for our people,” he said.

Marchers came from across Orange County and as far away as the Westchester County Firefighters Emerald Society Pipe and Drum Corps.
