Two stabbed, one fatally in Blauvelt incident

BLAUVELT – A large fight inside the Oiso Restaurant on Route 303 in Blauvelt Saturday night resulted in two people being stabbed, one fatally.

Orangetown Police were called to the scene at about 10:50 p.m. for a report of shots fired. At the same time, they received a report that two people had come to the emergency room of Montefiore Nyack Hospital. One victim, identified as Caneggio Grant, 30, of Nanuet, was later transferred to Westchester Medical Center where he died.

The police investigation determined the stabbing occurred during the large fight and as people fled the scene, several shots were fired. There were no reports of injuries from the gunfire.

Orangetown Police were assisted at eh scene by the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, Clarkstown and Ramapo Police, State Police, and the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office.
