Poughkeepsie man arrested for illegal possession of handgun

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – A Poughkeepsie man has been arrested on a charge of felony criminal possession of a weapon.

On February 25 at 4 p.m., a Town of Poughkeepsie Police officer observed a suspicious man at the rear of a business on South Road.

The man, later identified as Richard Bivens, Jr., was found to be illegally in possession of a loaded handgun.

He was arrested without incident, arraigned and committed to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
