Dutchess Executive Marcus Molinaro, left, accepts the flag from Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney

POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro lost his father to COVID-19 and in his memory and in that of the thousands of other Hudson Valley residents who were killed by the deadly virus, Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney presented him with a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol.

The congressman said the gesture is a way to honor those lost in the one-year battle against the virus.

“We want to recognize your dad as a way to recognize him, of course, and the precious role he played in your life, but also the thousands of people who we can’t get back,” he said. “I am so proud of your leadership because in the midst of personal loss, this guy didn’t miss a beat.”

Maloney also promised Molinaro a flag flown at the Mall in Washington in the run-up to the inauguration in January.
