GOSHEN – If the promised number of vaccine doses arrives in the next few days, Orange County hopes to provide shots in the arms of 10,000 residents.

County Executive Steven Neuhaus, who has been personally spending days at ‘point of distribution” centers in Goshen and Newburgh, said he will be concentrating on getting seniors vaccinated as soon as possible.

“We track 17 nursing homes. Eighty-three percent of the nursing home residents and 43 percent of staff have been vaccinated,” he said.

In addition to seniors, 65 and older, Neuhaus plans to offer COVID-19 vaccinations to teachers, restaurant workers, and first responders, and police, who have yet to be inoculated.
