NEWBURGH – The brother of Peter Cuacuas, the seven-year-old Newburgh boy who died on February 10, said the loss of their brother “has shattered our hearts and changed our lives.”

Young Peter was brought to Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh in a private vehicle and was pronounced dead.

Authorities have released no information about the child’s death, only to say it is under investigation.

“We ask that you all respect the ongoing investigation, hold off on any questions you may have and to not post/repost any misleading statements,” said Peter’s brother, Ramiro. “No specifics or official statements have been released and hope you will understand our need for privacy during this tragic time.”
