Garnet Health president and CEO to retire

TOWN OF WALLKILL – Garnet Health President and CEO Scott Batulis announced on Monday that he will retire effective January 1, 2022 after more than 15 years of service to Garnet, which until last year was called Orange Regional and Catskill Regional Medical Centers.

The Garnet Board of Directors will begin a formal search and selection process shortly and will appoint a new president and CEO later this year. Batulis will remain on for the remainder of his contract to the end of 2021 to ensure his replacement’s smooth transition.

“Serving as president/CEO has been a challenging and rewarding journey and the highlight of my 38-year career in healthcare administration,” he said. 

Prior to joining Garnet Health in 2006, Batulis spent nearly 20 years with Health with HealthEast Care System headquartered i9n St. Paul, Minnesota.

Batulis looked back on the accomplishments under his leadership, including building the first new hospital in New York in 25 years, the merger of Catskill Regional Medical Center, the healthcare system’s role in bringing Touro College to Middletown, the creation of Graduate Medical Education programs, the Level II Trauma program, the growth of Garnet Health Doctors, the development of urgent care, and the many quality awards such as America’s 250 Best Hospitals, Magnet Nursing designation, and al of the Healthgrades Clinical Excellence award.
