Connecticut man charged in Yonkers homicide

YONKERS – Police have arrested a Hartford, Connecticut man on a murder charge in connection with the shooting death of a Yonkers man on January 17.

Claismar Abreu-Then, 27, of Hartford, allegedly shot Joseph Pichardo, 24, several times in a hallway of a building at 54 Fairview Street in Yonkers.

Authorities believe the men knew each other and that the shooting was the fatal culmination of an on-going dispute between them.

When Abreu-Then was arrested, police in Hartford recovered an illegal 9mm handgun and a quantity of alleged fentanyl pills.

The case was investigated by Yonkers City Police, The Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, Hartford City Police, FBI Westchester Safe Streets Task Force, and Northern Connecticut Violent Crime and Gang Task Force.
