NEWBURGH – A recent act of vandalism occurred on the train trestle along the Newburgh Waterfront.  Some of the damage included a large painted graffiti display on the concrete wall that states “Defund the Police”.

A social media post about the issue brought it to the attention of several concerned citizens who have teamed up with a local car detailing business to clean up and remove this “anti-police” message.  The efforts are being assisted with cooperation from the City of Newburgh Police, Chief Amthor, and with CSX Rail Officials being advised of this effort.

On Friday, January 22nd, at 11:45 a.m., this group of individuals will be meeting in the parking lot where this graffiti is located, near the intersection of Water and 4th Streets, on the west side of the tracks to begin the removal of this vandalism.  Paul Harrington Sr. said “We support our local law enforcement and we hope you will support our cause in attending this cleanup,” as he encouraged interested citizens to attend.
