GOSHEN – State Senator Michael Martucci (R, New Hampton) was administered the ceremonial oath of office in Goshen on Saturday. The new lawmaker representing the 42nd District, was formally sworn in at the beginning of the year.

He told a group of friends and supporters at the Orange County 911 Center, who wore masks and sat socially distanced, that he places public service before self-service.

“For the future, I hold a tremendous amount of optimism, because above all, what I am confident in, is the goodness of our people and the hope that exists in our future. I do this, being completely resolute about the challenges that lie ahead because together, what I know, is that we can take a step away from the very divisive political tone of the moment and take steps forwards so that we can work together and overcome tremendous challenges and effect great change,” Martucci said.

Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus said Martucci has “hutzpah” and is “a breath of fresh air.”
