POUGHKEEPSIE – Concerned about a recent rash of violent crimes in the City of Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County Legislator Randall Johnson, Sr. sat down for a briefing with police brass on Friday.

Johnson was updated on the community policing efforts, which he embraced as a positive step.

“Definitely the visibility of police vehicles, police officers out of their car, walking down streets; it is a deterrent. Time will tell if everything is working or if other things that need to be implemented to help the situation out to lower the crime rate.

Johnson met with city Police Chief Thomas Pape and State Police Major Michael Drake and other police leadership.
