KINGSTON – Ulster County Legislature Chairman David Donaldson and 14 members of the body have written to federal lawmakers urging them to “do everything in your power to ensure that all of the individuals who incited and perpetrated the deadly insurrection at the People’s House, are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

The letter from the local lawmakers was sent to Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand and Representative Antonio Delgado.

“The chaos, violence, and insurrection at the U.S. Capitol this past Wednesday, incited by the call of the outgoing President, was an act of treason and the first breach of the home of our democracy since1814, when the British army set it on fire,” they wrote.

“The terrorists that carried out last Wednesday’s insurrection and those that provoked it should face criminal charges,” the Ulster officials said.
