Kingston man arrested in hit-and-run that seriously injured pedestrian

KINGSTON – State Police have arrested a 24-year-old City of Kingston man in connection with the January 2 afternoon hit-and-run incident in which a 62-year-old Accord man was struck and seriously injured.

George Barley was walking along Whitfield Avenue in Accord with his wife when a vehicle sped toward them, ran off the road, and struck him.

Investigators tracked down Brysen Tota and charged him with leaving the scene of an accident involving a serious injury, tampering with physical evidence, assault, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $7,500 cash bail or $15,000 unsecured bond.
