Elderly man killed in Ramapo car crash

RAMAPO – An 88-year-old Spring Valley man was killed when his car collided with another car on Roue 202 around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6.

Ramapo Police said the elderly man, whose name they did not release, was driving from Pomona toward Suffern in an erratic manner when he crossed into the opposite lane of traffic and struck an oncoming car. That 35-year-old driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Hackensack Hospital.

The Tallman Fire Department was on the scene for fire control and to remove the drivers who were trapped in their vehicles.

Also on the scene were Ramapo Valley, Spring Hill and Haverstraw ambulance corps, and Rockland Paramedics. The Rockland County Sheriff’s Office and State Police assisted with traffic control.

The crash remains under consideration.
