GOSHEN – On its first day of point of distribution on Wednesday, Orange County administered 800 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to frontline healthcare and EMS workers.

They lined up outside a tent at the county’s emergency services building in Goshen waiting their turn for the first of two shots to protect them from the deadly virus.

County Executive Steven Neuhaus said the vaccinations were “an important step” in providing protection for everyone in the county who wants one.

“My report to the governor and his staff today is we are moving full speed ahead. We are burning through these vaccines. Get us more vaccines and we will get them out for you,” he said.

The county partnered with two medical providers, Horizon Family Medical Group and Middletown Medical, to distribute the vaccines.
