ACCORD – A 62-year-old Accord man who was walking along Whitfield Avenue in Accord on the afternoon of January 2, was struck by a hit-and-run driver.
State Police said George Barley was found unconscious and breathing and appeared to be suffering from head and leg injuries. He was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.
Barley’s wife told police she observed a gray sedan driving south of Whitfield Road at a high rate of speed when it struck her husband and continued on.
The car will have front end damage, police said.
The investigation is continuing and anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and may have witnessed it is asked to call State Police at Ellenville at 845-626-2800.
