POUGHKEEPSIE – The Dutchess County Legislature named longtime legislature employee Leigh Wager as Clerk of the Legislature at Monday night’s organizational meeting.  Wager most recently served as Deputy Clerk under Carolyn Morris who retired at the end of 2020.
Chairman Gregg Pulver weighed in on both the retirement of Morris and Wager’s appointment, saying “It has been a privilege to sit beside Carolyn the last three years while I served as Chair. Her guidance and personality will certainly be missed. I have full confidence in Leigh’s ability to serve as our new Clerk. Her years as Deputy Clerk have provided her great training and she has shown to be accessible for each legislator.

Wager was appreciative of the appointment and said “It has been my privilege to work for this esteemed body of government and I am excited for my new role as Clerk of the Legislature. I look forward to the upcoming year and the rewarding experiences it will bring.”
Republican lawmaker Joey Cavaccini, representing the Town of Wappinger, was satisfied with Wager’s nomination.  “I am confident that Leigh Wager will do a tremendous job as our new Clerk of the Legislature. She has the knowledge and expertise necessary after serving alongside Carolyn Morris for decades to fill the role. I feel my colleagues and I made the best decision by appointing her to this very important position.”
