GOSHEN – The hours of operation and rules pertaining to drinking at bars and pubs may be different as the pandemic continues, but Dana Distributors is again offering its Alert Cab program for persons who need a ride home in Orange, Sullivan or Rockland counties tonight – New Year’s Eve.

Bars may only serve alcoholic beverages if patrons are eating along with them and the establishments must close at 10 p.m.

Alert Cab is being offered until then to drive people home within 10 miles from the pub in a program coordinated again by Dana’s marketing manager Tom Kennedy.

Orange County Sheriff Carl DuBois, Wednesday, said there is no excuse to be on the road tonight if you had too much to drink.

“You have Alert Cab. You have them partnering with Lyft from 2 to 10 and there are plenty of other ways to get home if you had too much to drink, Uber, regular cab service, if you can afford it, hire a limo.  Your friends, your family,” he said.

County Executive Steven Neuhaus and District Attorney David Hoovler echoed the message of don’t drive drunk.
