Jeffersonville woman arrested for felony DWI under Leandra’s Law

LIBERTY – A Jeffersonville woman has been charged with a felony of aggravated DWI – Leandra’s Law after she was stopped while driving erratically on Route 52 in the Village of Liberty.

When village police conducted a traffic stop on December 26, they found Anna Gref, 31, under the influence of drugs.

She also had a six-year-old passenger.

During the investigation, police said she unsuccessfully attempted to conceal narcotics and also had brass knuckles.

Gref was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and aggravated DWI, both as felonies, as well as misdemeanors of driving while ability impaired, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, and attempted tampering with physical evidence.

Leandra’s Law makes it a felony to drive intoxicated or under the influence of drugs with a child age 15 or under in the vehicle. The law was named after Leandra Rosado who was killed on October 11, 2009, when the vehicle she was in crashed. She was 11 years old.

The driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol.

Six children were injured in that accident.
