ALBANY – The effects of holiday travel and socializing have yet to be felt, but new coronavirus cases and deaths continue to mount in the Hudson Valley/Catskills region.
The latest figures from the state health department, for Christmas Eve Day, show 1,632 new positive cases of the virus and 15 deaths.
State and local officials continue to urge people to avoid gatherings, including small family parties, particularly in this coming week leading up to New Year’s Day, as the spread is expected to increase.
With vaccines now being administered, it is hoped the virus will be brought under control by mid-2021.
