Unemployment dips, but still higher than 2019

ALBANY – Unemployment in the Hudson Valley during the month of November was down by one percent over October levels, but still remained higher than November 2019, the state labor department reported.

The rate of joblessness is significantly lower than the double-digit figures of earlier this year, but region-wide, November’s 5.4 percent is higher than the 3.6 percent registered one year earlier.

Columbia County, with a 4.0 percent rate in November, remains the lowest in the region while Sullivan and Westchester counties, each with 5.8 percent unemployment were the highest.
