NEWBURGH – The City of Newburgh Industrial Development Agency is offering city businesses a grant of up to $2,500.00 per business to reimburse the cost of having to buy personal protective equipment (PPE), as mandated by the federal and state governments in order to operate safely.

“Businesses in the city have been impacted greatly, and the IDA is in a position to help them while we wait out this pandemic,” said Board Chairman Austin DuBois.

The IDA is hoping the grants will help local businesses alleviate a portion of the extra financial burden caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Funds from the IDA are reimbursement grants, meaning the expenditure to buy the PPE has been done, and the IDA’s grant is to help offset those costs.  The grant can be used for COVID-related PPE expenses or similarly explained uses, for businesses with less than 50 employees.   Eligible reimbursable items would have been purchased on or after June 17.

Business interested in applying for the grant may find further information on the IDA’s web page at:

A total of $70,000 in grants will be given out.
