KINGSTON – The Ulster County Resource Recovery Agency has collected electronic waste at no charge for years but that has now changed.

Acting Executive Director Timothy DeGraff cites two primary reasons for the suspension of the service.

“The e-waste market, it is tough to move the product these days. We have spoken to some other RRAs in the state who are having the same issues. That combined with the winter season. We have staff that works on Saturdays and are out in the cold and are out in the elements. The area where we do it tends to get very icy and not very safe,” he said.

DeGraff said, as a result, they have suspended the free e-waste collection until April 1, 2021.
