Red Hook town building inspector arrested for official misconduct

RED HOOK – The Town of Red Hook building inspector and zone/code enforcement officer has been arrested for bribery receiving, two counts of coercion and official misconduct.

John Fenton, 55, of Wappinger is charged with acting in his official capacity at the time he allegedly broke the law.

Fenton, who previously served as a Wappinger town councilman, was arrested after State Police received a complaint.

Police did not reveal the specifics of the charges.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone not yet interviewed who may have possible information regarding official misconduct by Fenton is asked to call the State Police at 845-677-7300.
