WASHINGTON – State Assemblyman Colin Schmitt (R, New Windsor) spent Tuesday at the White House attending the Operation Warp Speed COVID-19 Vaccine Summit.
He was the only New York official in attendance to be briefed on “the truly historic effort to develop a coronavirus vaccine which will help close this challenging chapter in our nation’s history.”
Schmitt met with Dr. Deborah Birx, a member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, and General Perna, the chief operating officer of Operation Warp Speed. “I have confidence that the infrastructure will be available to provide New York State with its initial supply of the vaccine.”
The Food and Drug Administration is expected to grant approval today for the first vaccine to be distributed.
