NEWBURGH – Billy Joe’s Ribworks on the Hudson River in Newburgh will be closed until December 9 because one of its employees tested positive for COVID-19.

Restaurant owners said that on Wednesday, they were notified that one of their employees tested positive for the coronavirus. They said the employee had no direct involvement in food handling and extremely limited contact with customers.

The worker did, however, have proximate contact with a number of other Billy Joe’s staff who are now voluntarily quarantined, they said.

As a result, the restaurant is not able to appropriately staff it during the coming two-week period.

“We take the safety of our employees and our customers seriously and we are sorry for any inconvenience that may cause you,” a company statement said.
