ALBANY – October unemployment in Hudson Valley/Catskills counties inched up slightly over September rates and were on average, double October 2019 rates as the coronavirus pandemic continues to rage, the State Labor Department reported.
Westchester County had the highest October rate in the region at 7.0 percent. Sullivan County recorded a 6.7 percent rate. Rockland County recorded 6.5 percent, while Orange County followed with 6.4 percent.
Greene County had a 6.3 percent unemployment rate in October, while Dutchess County had a 5.9 percent rate, Ulster County had 5.8 percent unemployment and Putnam County recorded 5.7 percent joblessness.
Columbia County had the lowest rate in the region at 4.7 percent.
