POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County’s Director of Veterans Services, Adam Roche, has been named to the New York State Veterans’ Hall of Fame.

The battle-hardened Roche was nominated for the honor by State Senator Sue Serino.  Prior to his position with Dutchess, Roche served veterans throughout the Hudson Valley as program manager for MHA Dutchess Vet2Vet, a peer-to-peer program that offers an array of services for veterans.

“This honor is not about me.  It represents work done by every veteran that has risked their lives for America.  I don’t work alone.  In the Marine Corps, I had my fellow warriors.  In my work at Vet2Vet and now with Dutchess County, I have been supported by an incredible team of people that all work to help our veterans,” Roche said.

Serino said since she first met Roche, “I have always been amazed by the way he devotes himself fully to caring for local veterans across the Hudson Valley.”

She said ever since he enlisting in the Marine Corps following high school graduation from high school, “his service to our country, and our community, has not stopped.”

Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro, who appointed Roche to the county position said Roche “has not only valiantly served our nation as a distinguished United States Marine, he continues his service to his community as Director of the Dutchess County Division of Veterans’ Services. We are proud of Adam and the accomplishments he has achieved in the few short months in his new post, and Dutchess County’s veterans could not find a stronger advocate.”

Every year, each state senator is given the opportunity to induct a local veteran into the New York State Senate Veterans’ Hall of Fame from the community they serve. This award recognizes those who have gone above and beyond not only in their military life but in their civilian life as well.
