PORT JERVIS – The pandemic is expected to take its toll on Red Kettle donations for the Salvation Army this Christmas season, so it is starting early.
Calling it #Rescue Christmas, the Port Jervis Salvation Army chapter is also accepting donations by texting PJRedKettle to 41444.
Lt. Nereus Mogaria said the Salvation Army’s humanitarian efforts are year-round.
“Even before the pandemic, the community has always been a need with food or financial assistance and we have been able to bless others and to help others by having other people in the community coming to us with a donation or having a way to provide food,” he said.
Red Kettles and bell ringers will be seen around the area beginning today.
