ALBANY – The judicial system in New York is shutting back down due to the new wave of Coronavirus infections.  Jury trials and grand juries are affected, according to Chief Administrative Law Judge Lawrence Marks.

In an email sent to all judges in the state Friday, Judge Marks said the order will go into effect next week.   The order suspends any new jury trials in the state and prohibits new grand juries from being impaneled.

The order exempts current trials and active grand juries, both of which may continue.

This shutdown is the second pause of the judicial system in New York since COVID-19 arrived.  The first shutdown occurred in early March of this year
