Man with stolen gun found asleep at the wheel

NEW ROCHELLE – A 21-year-old man, who was found asleep behind the wheel of a Mercedes at 4:16 a.m. on Friday, November 13, was arrested for possessing a loaded gun stolen out of Florida.

new Rochelle Police were called to McDonald’s at 280 Main Street for a report of a personal welfare investigation.

They found Louis Florimon of the Bronx asleep. Officers attempted to wake him up. He appeared to be intoxicated. Shortly after he woke, officers were able to open his driver’s side door for further interview

That is when they spotted a barrel of a gun under his thigh at which time they tried to remove Florimon to place him under arrest, but he was able to speed off with an officer being injured.

A short time later, Pelham Manor Police found the car, which had crashed. The car had struck two other vehicles and rolled over. Police removed Florimon and a .40 caliber gun with a loaded magazine was recovered.

Florimon was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, assault, criminal possession of stolen property, unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle and driving while intoxicated.
