WHITE PLAINS – A Westchester County grand jury has indicted a New Rochelle man on a murder charge in connection with the strangulation of his mother in her home last spring.

On March 17, at about 1:30 p.m., New Rochelle Police responded to a Second Street residence on a report of a son attacking his mother

Police found Daniel Flores Arteaga, 26, at the scene, and his mother unconscious on the floor. Prosecutors allege that he later told them that he had strangled his mother.

Police rushed Maria Arteaga to the hospital where she was placed on life support. On March 26, she was removed from life support and pronounced dead.
