LAKE KATRINE – Grace Community Evangelical Free Church is holding its 4th-annual “Live Nativity” from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12. The church is at 160 Seremma Court in Lake Katrine.

This year’s Live Nativity will be a COVID-friendly, drive-thru event featuring actors. New this year, the church will feature at least eight lighted sets that tell the story of the birth of Jesus. The main set will feature live animals.

Victorian carolers and a children’s choir of angels will also be part of the show.

People will be able to tune into the biblical narration on their radios as they drive and enjoy the dramatization.

“COVID-19 has canceled many holiday events this year and we know families will be looking for something to do. This event will be no-contact and safe for everyone. Visitors will not get out of their cars, but they can still experience the true meaning of Christmas,” said Robert Mitchell, one of the event organizers.

Mitchell praised the production, saying “We want our neighbors to forget about the commercialism for one night and experience the beauty of the Christ child. It’s a great family event and everything is free. We’ve had people tell us this event takes them back to their childhood and reminds them of a simpler time.”
