State Police: Cortlandt man tries to burn house down during domestic incident

CORTLANDT – Police have arrested a 30-year-old Cortlandt man on charges of arson, reckless endangerment, menacing, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal possession of controlled substance.

At around 10 a.m. on November 4, Michal Trestka allegedly set fire to a mattress he leaned against the building in which had been locked out during a domestic dispute on Redmill Road. When he saw 911 was being contacted, he fled the scene.

Treska’s vehicle was located on the Sprain Brook Parkway a short time later and he was taken into custody. At the time of his arrest, police found a small amount of LSD in his possession.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 secure bond.

State Police and Westchester County Police investigated the case.
