ALBANY – Because of continuing spread of the coronavirus across college campuses, Governor Cuomo announced on Friday all SUNY students will be tested for COVID-19 before they go home for the Thanksgiving break and they won’t be returning to the campuses afterwards.

Instead, they will finish up their fall semester remotely in an effort to keep a lid on the dangerous virus.

Many students have already been working from home while others have been living in on- or off-campus housing but working remotely.

Locally, the new rule applies to SUNY New Paltz and any community colleges that have on-campus housing like SUNY Sullivan.

The governor also suggested private colleges should to the same.

In Poughkeepsie, Marist College is on pause through the weekend because of an outbreak on campus.
