POUGHKEEPSIE – Days after a man was shot multiple times on Winnikee Avenue, another man has been shot in the city.

City of Poughkeepsie Police received reports of several gunshots fired on Wednesday night around 10:30 p.m. near the intersection of North Clinton and Cottage Streets.

Responding officers found a 27-year-old man near 78 N. Clinton Street, suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.  The victim was transported to a local hospital by medics from Mobile Life Support Services.

Patrol officers and detectives cordoned off Cottage Street between North Clinton Street and Park Place as they investigated the most recent act of gun violence.  Officers located several shell casings in the area.  Sources told Mid Hudson News that a cell phone was recovered near the incident and may be associated with the crime.

A witness who resides on Park Place said, “I heard several loud bangs that were louder than fireworks.”

Police sources said that there is a possibility that more than one gunman discharged a weapon in the direction of the victim.

The victim’s wound was described as “non-life-threatening.”

Police are asking that anyone with information regarding the incident contact the police at 845-451-7577.
